As we enter the room, we become active participants in a play that begins by kids trying to wake up the dwellers of Nookville, who are laying scattered across the floor. Each tries in his or her own way as learned at home — by gentle nudging, tickling, or flailing arms and throwing pillows.

Because Nookville is real good. It is so good, in fact, that I have decided to buy tickets for all the shows remaining on the bill for the year.

PROPAGANDA!
An innocent pillow fight versus verbal aggression. An alternative slogan swat team versus political smokescreen. Civic courage versus authoritarianism. Flowers (and flourishes of speech) versus cobblestones. These are some of the dichotomies one could use to characterize the spectacular, weeks-long PR campaign that has ushered in a performance by The Symptoms, which is inspired by the effort to creatively rethink political discourse. “Are you giving it a like?,” the creative masterminds had been asking in forums of all description, including blogs, clips, radio, and television. Indeed, there is something reassuring about the ability of a creative team to mobilize their caucus for a noble cause as ingeniously and effectively as they do.
