Originally intended for performance in shopping malls, this unusual fashion show focuses on the plastic bag, this indispensable fixture of the consumer society. The public-space performance employs garments and accessories made by the Hungarian designer Enikő Bodnár exclusively from shopping bags and plastic wrap. Packed full of comic visual effects, this veritable recycling revue features plastic-bagged pimps and plastic kittens performing their grotesque numbers in the company of nylon creatures and limbs sticking out of — what else — plastic bags.

At the Sarajevo International Theater Festival, Nylon Revue was awarded the prize for the most original show. The piece was presented among others in Eindhoven (NL), Kortrijk (B), Berlin (D), Warsaw and Tczew (PL) in open-air and museum spaces.

“The troupe of actors-slash-dancers culled by Szabó is on the verge of maturing into a genuine company blessed with an exceptional sense of humor and irony, and capable of disarming any amount of resistance once they begin to improvise. Conceived as a tragicomic diagnosis of the consumer society, Nylon Revue is even more of a sparkling but chaotic storm of ideas, ready to support even coarser jokes and more of the same sheer puerile fun. Enikő Bodnár’s baggy creations are clever takes on the theme of recycled fashion.” (Veronika Ágnes Tóth: Élet és Irodalom)
